Changemaker Leadership
History
In Fall 2010, ASU received the Changemaker Campus distinction by Ashoka U joining nine other universities with this prestigious honor: Ashoka Announcement
Changemaker is a student - led university initiative that advances entrepreneurship, civic engagement, social impact, sustainability, and service at Arizona State University. Supported by leaders from University Service Learning, Educational Outreach and Student Service and Office of University Initiatives, a student steering committee developed the mission, vision and direction for Changemaker in the spring of 2011. Changemaker opened physical locations on each campus starting in Fall 2011.
Our Mission
Changemaker @ ASU is a community of students that are leading social change in our local and global community. With Changemaker spaces and programs on all four Phoenix metropolitan ASU campuses, our student leaders are prepared to help you navigate the many ways you can make a difference at ASU.
Changemaker @ ASU exists to create a university-wide culture that empowers students to apply their passion, knowledge and expertise to create innovative solutions to local, national and global challenges.
We do this by providing the opportunities and resources to inspire, catalyze and sustain student-driven social change through community service, and social entrepreneurship.
What is a Changemaker?
Changemakers are strategic thinkers, impactful innovators, passionate storytellers, and managers of complex situations. They embrace the vision that is shared across the institution that connects ASU’s Design Aspiration of practicing principled innovation to placing character and values at the center of all innovative decisions and actions. Changemakers are fearless but pragmatic risk-takers who can envision success through mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations at ASU and beyond.
Student Experience
Students in the program will participate in the following:
- Attend semesterly retreats with other Changemaker Student Leaders.
- Connect with other students on one of Changemakers focus areas.
- Learn to put on events and experiences for fellow students focused on Changemakers values.
- Be provided mentorship and advised by Changemaker Staff.
- Attend regular Services Days and events put on by students for students.
- Attend social activities including end of semester celebrations.
- Be provided networking opportunities with Changemaker Alumni, ASU Faculty, and ASU staff.
Eligibility Requirements
- 2.5 unweighted GPA.
- In good academic standing In good conduct standing
- Currently enrolled at ASU in at least three (3) credit hour
- History of community service/volunteering and involvement with clubs and organizations.
